About

Tammi Kale is mother, daughter, mammy and a budding author.  She is friend to all, lover of animals, loves to travel, loves to read, loves to make new friends, thankful for her many blessings.

Hello,

I am fifty-three years young and I am at the point in my life that I either do as I’ve ‘read’ about or do as most everyone around me does – accepts the pitfalls of getting older and just learns to live around them. I’ve decided that’s not what I want to do. I’ve decided I want to ‘re-invent myself’ as the saying goes. I’m still alive and by gosh, I want to enjoy being that way – not spend it moaning over every new creak of my knee or shift of my back bone.

So, here it is you find me. I grew up at the foothills of the Great Smokey, Blue Ridge, and Appalachian Mountains. Here I still make my home today. I very much love the coast, and am thankful we’re only a five hour drive from the salty spray, but as so many of us Southerners, I’ve never roamed anywhere else long enough to call it home.

But don’t get me wrong – I do love to roam. I’ve spent 10 days on an island that had only recently gotten electricity – that electricity hadn’t reached roads when I was there so venturing out was lit by the glorious close enough to touch full moon. It seemed to wane slower than it does at home, and I was in love with the sheer light of it, literally.

I’ve carried my machete to the wilds of the Florida Keys. Remember several years ago there were huge snakes turning up in the islands. And I had been there before and remembered the rustling I’d heard in the mangroves behind me as I sat gazing out over the clear emerald waters. I went prepared!

And this, my dear friends, is one of the reasons I took my machete! My precious granddaughter! The light of my life and the one who keeps me young. I just can’t help saying it: Isn’t she beautiful!

I’ve watched the distinct and sultry sway of gray reef sharks from a shark cage on the North Shore of Hawaii. I have mixed feelings on this, but I try to stay aware of whether or not this tourist attraction promotes shark attacks. So far I haven’t found any proof that it does, so for now I can still pat myself on the back for having been up close and personal with these large creatures that provoke such fear in us.

I am a firm believer that God is in control, but that mankind is the culprit that prevents God’s control from flourishing in the world today. Heck, yesterday and tomorrow as well. In a nutshell, if we could all learn to hear the still small voice and act on what it’s laying on our hearts, the world wouldn’t be the scary, dirty, evil place that it is. I still cringe whenever I think of Sandy Hook. And that’s just ONE tiny monstrosity. Yeah, I know the devil made her eat the apple, but we all have a choice.

Mankind is given the mind to rise above the confounding disgraces of these days we live in. Given the mind BY Christ – I know I didn’t evolve from an ape – and given the mind OF Christ. So, if we’d all just take the time to just ‘be still and know’ this world could do a little turning around.

This covers “About” fairly well. I embrace life! I love life and can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. I know whatever it is, all will be well. My future’s secure.

I embrace meeting new friends here on my new blog! I embrace finally putting my ordinary, exciting life into words! Come along with me and let’s do a little turning!

God Bless You Each and Every One!

  2. Wonderful to meet you Tammi and thank you for your follow and visit to my window.

Let me say, your grand daughter is beautiful and any grand parent who doesn’t feel like that about their grandchild has lost out.
You are a delight yourself, so bubbling with positive longing for living. I share this with you as you see do so many more.

    • Thank you, betunada, for noticing my absence! I just now saw your comment. I have been through a tooth-pulling kind of house sale, a relocation and a rebuild and a trip out of the county since my last post. That’s really no excuse, but I’m finally making my way back!

I’m in the process of “Rediscoverying Myself” Had to walk in my wilderness for a while until I finally understood some things about myself. This is the mission of my blog. To have an understanding of your self assists with making it through this thing called life. I pray that all I share about my experiences inspires others to be their own true self. • I don’t know whose blog it was I was reading, but I enjoy reading comments after I’ve read someone’s post as much as I enjoy the post itself. And that’s how I come across new people so at least for my find of your wonderful posts – you have no mystery (other than which one it was!)….I hope you have a beautiful day!

  6. Hi, there! Nice to meet you. I love the smoky mountains. We lived in MO but traveled back to NC every Christmas to visit my Grandmother. It’s just beautiful! I’m 52 and feel like you do. Let’s embrace life and live it to the fullest. I don’t want to just grow old and plop into the grave. I’m a Christian. and have begun practicing meditation about 4 years ago and have come to hear that “still small voice.” I agree with you that if everyone did that, the world would be a better place.

  10. Ok, Tammi, I see travel writer in your future. As I read your posting, I instantly reflected on my experiences and how much more of the world I want to visit, tour, and explore as the Nomadic Adventurer.
Swimming with the Sharks is on my bucket list, third from the bottom, just above bungee jumping and skydiving. They are at the end of the list just in case it doesn’t work out. 🙂

    • That’s funny! But seriously, they should be first – if you’re doing it in a cage, that is! Were I to see a shark and not be in a cage, I may be able to walk on water since I’d be propelling myself so fiercely away!

      • Lol, Lol, Lol! 🙂 As with my life.

With all of the training, I have completed in my life time to prepare and prevent me from saying oops, which inevitably takes place. That’s why they are at the bottom.

My family & friends would be shocked, I would even attempt the danger activity first. 🙂 🙂

I have a pithy interest in the marvels our tiny planets offers us as well as the often glorious antics its inhabitants get up to so you can be sure I shall catch up with what you’re doing as often as I can.

    • What a marvelous way of putting that – “the marvels and antics” – of course, it is evident from your posts that you have a direct and gripping way of getting a message across with your art. You do fascinating pieces and I’m looking forward to exploring more of what you’ve already posted and what’s to come.

  15. I am glad you commented on “the ‘c'” – I noticed that when I was reading your wonderful blog – at least when I could see through my tears, that is. Not only is yours such an inspiriation to read as we see and feel your struggles to get through this, and survive it day by day, but what speaks highest to me is the fact that you and your husband shared a rare love….the video that you planned to dance on the beach to totally broke me down and I had to get up and walk away…..I’ve long since given up on finding such a love, but it’s very evident from every post, every picture that there was a strong connection between you two. I can only imagine, with having had shared a life truly as one on so many different levels – good and thru the bad too – how excrutiatingly painful your life must be now. But you are also among the most fortunate for having had such a life experience. I am definitely not making light of your pain – I am saying you are an extremely strong woman – one who can soar with eagles through the absolute best – the best being no question about it being the best – and the worst – also no question about it being the worst. You are a hero in my eyes. My thoughts continue to be with you and your family.

  16. Hi Tammi. Two blog posts in and I feel like you are definitely someone I would like. I skipped right to the recent punch line – you are cancer FREE! Woo hoo! That is fabulous. When my husband was diagnosed, we never used the term “the ‘c’ word”. Instead we said it straight out … cancer. But we always added “with a small ‘c'” because we refused to give that word any power. So here is to you and being free of cancer with a small ‘c’. I look forward to reading more of your blog. Thanks for the follow.
